Andrea has been singing her whole life. In fact, her first words were sung: “Mr.Clean Mr. Clean Mr. Clean!” She sang throughout her school years, and graduated with a music degree. She sang for 6 years with the (then) Littleton Chorale Society, and has been singing and playing (guitar) with her church band for about a dozen years. She is thrilled to join Canto Deo! Singing sacred music with a group of musical people is – well – heavenly!

I have been singing in church choirs since my school days, but never in a group selected by audition. This is my first. I got most of my music training through playing the violin since 5th grade. I actually have a minor in music & played in the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra in my college years. It is so fun to be singing with a group of such talented & trained voices. I am learning so much.

I have a BA in Piano Performance. For the last 35 years, I have had a private piano studio of ages 3-75. My other musical activities include accompanying for various groups, instrumental and vocal. I love to cook and entertain. I was born in Lodi, California and grew up on the family vineyard where there are a variety of grapes to make wine!

I have sung my whole life. My earliest musical recollections are listening to my dad sing while he was shaving. I have sung in church choirs since I was 4 years old and began taking piano lessons when I was 6. I met my husband, Steve, who also sings with Canto Deo, through a mutual friend as I was singing in a visiting choir at his church. Needless to say, music plays a very important role in my life. I am a charter member of Canto Deo, but have been singing with Jonathan since 1990. When I’m not singing, I enjoy gardening, hiking, traveling, interior decorating, cooking and entertaining. I own Willows Child Learning Centers, and absolutely love my job! Steve and I have 2 amazing daughters, 2 fantastic son-in-laws, and 5 precious grandchildren. We are so blessed!

I grew up in a musical family, my father being a music teacher and director. After receiving a BFA in Musical Theater I went off to LA and NYC and found great choirs in both cities. Aside from performing in the theater and singing in church choirs and Canto Deo, I am a seamstress and quilt designer, specializing in art quilts. Keep your eyes open for art shows; I often have art displayed there!

Rebecca Leavenworth
A charter member of Canto Deo, Rebecca sings 2nd Soprano in both the Chamber and Festival choirs and has sung with Jonathan Brown since 1990. A musician from early in her life, she also plays piano, all voices of recorder, handbells, and can usually make her way around dulcimers and other early period instruments. In addition to lending her singing voice, Rebecca generates the publicity for Canto Deo and is a lead collaborator on both web and print content. As an amateur music historian, Rebecca enjoys diving deeper into the background of composers and compositions. Her all-time favorite Christmas piece is Gerald Finzi’s gorgeous In Terra Pax, with text based on Robert Bridges poem, Noel: Christmas Eve, 1913.

My grandmother was a music teacher, and I began singing and playing piano at age six. After singing in my high school’s Concert Choir and Girls Ensemble, I sang with the University Chorus at UCLA, Sanctuary Choir at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Newport Beach, CA and the Crystal Cathedral Choir. In 1999, I joined the Sanctuary Choir and Chamber Ensemble at Cherry Creek Presbyterian Church directed by Jonathan Brown, and followed Jonathan to Canto Deo in 2007, where I’ve continued singing with the Festival and Chamber Choirs.
