A charter member of Canto Deo and a board member. Sing Bass II in both the Chamber and Festival choirs. Began singing in church choirs and quartets when I was twelve. Love singing acapella, and my favorite style of music is gospel. Started out in college as a music education major playing trumpet. Have sung under the direction of Jonathan Brown now for over 25 years which is almost half my life!

I retired from playing French Horn in the U.S. Air Force bands after 22 years of service. My wife, Ardith and I moved to LIttleton from near St Louis in 2017.

After hearing Canto Deo in concert in the spring of 2018, I was awed! Here was a group whose passion was to praise God with joy and befitting excellence. I said to myself, “This is what my heart has been yearning for.” I auditioned the next fall.

I’m a life-long singer. From church choirs, barbershop & gospel quartets, concert choir (Hastings College), and a small madrigal group at CU Boulder College of Music where I met my wife, Cathy. I love sacred choral music, bluegrass gospel quartets, classical music, pipe organ, and piano concertos.

After doing nothing but instrumental music through high school (piano and baritone horn), I have been singing in choirs, mostly church related, ever since. I am a retired pediatrician and worked with Kaiser Permanente of Colorado for over 30 years. Singing has been my avocation all my life in various groups including my college glee club, many church choirs as a cantor, and several community chorales. I particularly enjoy singing spiritual and sacred music. I have four children and eight grandchildren who keep me feeling young. My first wife passed away after a long battle with cancer and I have recently remarried. I am blessed with a beautiful family and many friends.

My musical journey began very early listening to great hymns of the faith from the Lutheran followed by the Presbyterian traditions. Piano lessons commenced at age 7 followed by organ lessons in high school and soon thereafter my choral career was launched which has continued to this day. For the past 28 years I have been privileged to sing and continue to learn great choral music under the masterful leadership of Jonathan Brown.

I have been singing from 10 years old, starting with a church boys choir. From there, the college men’s glee club. Got married at 21, got a job, had kids. Continued with church choirs, small groups, a city chorale. Kids gone, retired. Then, Canto Deo. Wow! So enriching, meaningful and fulfilling…Christmas especially. For me, it just wouldn’t be Christmas without it. Love singing to, for and about God with this great group.

He is a member of Wellshire Presbyterian Church and has sung in their Sanctuary Choir and Celebration Singers for the past 10 years. Scott has been singing with Canto Deo for three years. He is the father of three wonderful girls and has the very best wife in the world. Free time is spent with family and Walter the dog!
