Advent Service of Lessons & Carols @ Bethany Lutheran (11/30)

Canto Deo’s Chamber Choir opens the 2025 – 2026 season with our traditional Advent Service of Lessons & Carols. Beginning with quiet reflection and a soul-deep question, “Art Thou He that should come to reign over thy people, Israel?” the Advent season reminds us to look ahead to the arrival of the promised Messiah and to new life.

Come and experience Piers Kennedy’s evocative piece, A Spotless Rose, which tells the story of promises from the Old Testament bound together with their fulfillment in the New. Allow yourself to be immersed in the color and depth of works by Sir David Willcocks, Vicente Chavarria, and Carol Barnett; and let your spirit be comforted by well-loved hymn tunes and readings.

Mingling both old and new words and melodies, this service encourages us to slow down, listen to God’s word, and hear our own heart’s reply.
